How Villas to Villages Makes Travel Effortless
I’m Rebecca Hanson
My relationship with solo travel began at sixteen, during a summer in Siena. Days spent exploring the city on foot — museums, markets, cafés, and quiet side streets — shaped my understanding of how deeply the experience of a place depends on rhythm, access, and local knowledge.
I later graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a degree in Classical Studies and Roman Archaeology. As a William L. Bryant Scholar of Archaeology, I worked at a Roman site in Mallorca, gaining firsthand insight into how history, place, and daily life intersect. I later founded a specialized tour and guide company in Italy, focused on both the greats — the Pantheon and Herculaneum — and more immersive experiences such as the ancient port city of Ostia Antica and The Piero della Francesca Trail.
Before founding Villas to Villages, I spent years as an entrepreneur in the beauty and retail spaces, sourcing globally and building long-term relationships with artisans, vendors, and partners in cities including Athens, Rome, Florence, and Medellín. The work required me to operate across languages, cultures, and business environments — to negotiate, adapt, and build trust in very different contexts.
I’ve always believed that the most memorable travel experiences happen just beyond the obvious. A restaurant without a sign, neighborhood locals return to night after night, or a hotel chosen for how it feels rather than how it photographs. Today, I bring that same editorial eye and practical judgment to my clients. I don’t simply book trips—I design considered, high-touch journeys that reflect your personal style and allow you to travel with confidence, ease, and intention.
Journeys Designed for the Way You Like to Travel
Your time is your most finite luxury, and travel should feel unmistakably personal. Like my clients, I’m drawn to the details that quietly define an experience—a private moment in the Sistine Chapel before the crowds arrive, a secluded cove reached with a trusted captain, or a family-run trattoria with no signage and the best table in the room.
I believe the most memorable journeys unfold when the logistics disappear. My role is to manage the complexity with care and precision, so you can move through each place with ease—present, unhurried, and confident that every detail has been thoughtfully handled.
